About The Jet Connection
R. Doug Denison, President
How long have you been into aviation?
I started flying before I could drive. Because my dad owned and operated Denison Jet Sales, I’ve been around aircraft of all sizes since I was just a kid. I did my first solo flight at 16, got my private pilots license when I was 17 and I’ve been flying ever since!
What was it like to work with your dad?
I got to work with my dad at Denison Jet Sales from 1996 to 2000. Working with him is what inspired me to do what I do today. Being around airplanes and jets is second nature to me, and yet I still get a thrill every time we take off.
What is your background in aviation?
I earned my FAA certification in Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance (A&P) in 1981 from Parks College of St. Louis University. I later went on to study at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
I worked in general aviation maintenance including the reconditioning of Sabreliners for the US Navy/Air Force and then I became the Director of Aircraft Maintenance for a Georgia company on their corporate business jet.
Because I’m a certified Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), I’ve been able to earn type ratings on the Jetstar, Sabreliner and Citations II. In addition to being a corporate pilot for several corporations over the years, I have also been a commercial pilot. I was actually the first officer for the Eastern Airlines in the early 90’s.
What have been some of your favorite aircrafts you’ve flown?
I’ve logged flying time in the DC-9, Jetstar, Hawker, MU-2, Sabreliner, Piper, Westwind, Cessna and King Air 200 among many more. My all time favorite aircraft I’ve flown is the Jetstar. It’s a very stable and strongly build 4 engine jet aircraft. It gave me the opportunity to travel to Europe, Africa, Mexico, South American and Alaska. I also love it because the Jetstar was chosen as the first “Presidential” aircraft.
Why did you decide to start The Jet Connection?
Our goal at The Jet Connection is for us to build quality relationships with personal and corporate clients to help them accomplish their “mission profile”. We know you’ve worked hard to achieve the goal of owning a private jet. We love getting to help make this dream a reality for you.
Melanie Denison, Operations and Marketing
What is your background in travel and aviation?
I spent years in the transportation and travel industries with TWA and then later spent 12 years as a travel agent. These experiences have allowed me to know exactly how to help our buyers and sellers feel confident about the process. Learning so much about the travel industry with TWA and then the importance of the details as a travel agent allows me to serve our customers well. I also strive to keep our business current and our available jets for sale in the most prominent channels.
Where do you love to travel to the most?
I love to go most anywhere but coming home is always my favorite!
What are some of the ways you love to help clients?
I always want to make sure that our operations and interactions with our clients are as seamless as possible. We work hard to make sure that every step of the process is reviewed and on schedule. To me, it’s critical for clients to know it’s not just about making a sale for us. We manage the process, respect their time and build the relationship from beginning to end.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of working at The Jet Connection would be the customer experience. Seeing a customer get into the aircraft that fits their needs and then talking to them after they’ve had the opportunity to utilize it is truly rewarding.
